Renesas Mobile held an official opening ceremony today of the office ofRenesas Mobile India Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renesas Mobile, with attendees from the executive team of Renesas Mobile Corporation, including Heikki Tenhunen, Senior Vice President, Jean-Marie Rolland, Chief Technical Officer and Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, and Shinichi Yoshioka, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.Renesas Mobile India is a member of the Software Technology Parks of India, and currently has about 230 employees. Renesas Mobile India expects to invest approximately USD 115 million within five years, which includes personnel and capital costs.
The opening of the R&D centre is an important step for Renesas Mobile, and underlines the opportunities Renesas Electronics and Renesas Mobile Corporation see in India. Renesas Electronics Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Renesas Electronics, opened a branch office in Bangalore earlier this year to deliver to India the cutting-edge technology that Renesas Electronics offers globally, with the aim of doubling its sales in India to 100 million dollars by FY2012.
Renesas Mobile started operations on December 1, 2010 with the completion of Renesas Electronics acquisition of the Wireless Modem group of Nokia Corporation which provided proven wireless modem technology as well as the world-class R&D teams from the wireless modem group.
