MARTIN KRIEGNER APPOINTED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF LAFARGE INDIA

At the start of 2012, Lafarge, the world leader in building materials, adopted a new organization to refocus its core businesses - cement, aggregates and concrete - and prioritize innovation to bring added value to customers by offering not only products but more and more services as well as integrated solutions for construction.
As a result of this Group-wide reorganisation, Martin Kriegner has been appointed CEO of Lafarge India with responsibility for all of Lafarge’s cement, aggregates and concrete activities in the country.

“I am happy to return to India as Country CEO, at a time when the construction sector is evolving quickly in the country.  By combining all of our activities together, we will be able to support this evolution by offering integrated and innovative solutions at an earlier stage of construction in close proximity with our customers, allowing the full benefits of our innovative products and services to be realized,” said Martin Kriegner.

Martin Kriegner, an Austrian citizen, joined Lafarge in 1990 and became the CEO of Lafarge Perlmooser AG, Austria in 1998 before he moved to India as Head of the Cement activity in 2002. Prior to this assignment he served as Regional President, based in Kuala Lumpur. He has a Doctorate of Law and an MBA from Austrian universities.

“My ambition, alongside that of the team, is to make Lafarge India the best company in the sector in terms of safety, cost, branding, quality, delivery, people development and last but not least sustainable innovation.  We want to fully focus our business on our markets and needs of our customers, driving increased value through innovation to ensure we remain at the forefront when customers are looking for construction solutions,” added Martin Kriegner.
