NIMSME trained 30,000 unemployed youth in skill development during the year 2012-13:
Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) a non-profit organization with a vision to Build a women force that is economically empowered, valued citizens of the nation achieves yet another distinction of National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME) Institute Status. We are happy to have achieved this status, declared Mrs. P. Soudhamini, President of COWE.

 It conducted 8 Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programs for unemployed  in different trades for 240 candidates.  The  240 successful candidates are given away their certificates today by Chief Guest’ Shri.M.Chandrashekar Reddy, Director General, NIMSME informed Mrs. P. Soudhamini. Most of the participants are well qualified and  are  keen to setup their own enterprise.

Speaking on the occasion M. Chandrashekar Reddy said NIMSME trained 30,000 unemployed youth in skill development during the year 2012-13 and 18,000 during 2011-12 in more than 168 trades.  Ni-MSME since its inception in 1960 by the Government of India, has taken gigantic strides to become the premier institution for the promotion, development and modernization of the SME sector. An autonomous arm of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Institute strives to achieve its avowed objectives through a gamut of operations ranging from training, consultancy, research and education, to extension and information services., he said.

Adding further he said that about 25 to 47 per cent of students trained either settled in job or as self entrepreneur.  Our aim is to achieve 50% of strike rate, he said.  Among the trades that are preferred for training is IT.  We constantly introducing new trades such as Solar.  Also Soya products in Food Technology he said. Between the three National Level Entrepreneurship Development Institutes namely NIMSME, they have trained well over three lakh unemployed, informed Chandrashekar Reddy.  Purpose of all these is to empower youth, help them settle as self employed or entrepreneur, he added.

Ministry of MSME has set up three National level Entrepreneurship Development Institutes namely National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME), Hyderabad; to undertake the task of entrepreneurship and skill development on a regular basis.

 Ministry of MSME has also been supporting the efforts of State Governments/ Union Territories, Industry Associations, Financial Institutions, Technical/ Management Institutions, other Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), etc. for establishment of new training institutions as well as strengthening of the infrastructure of existing training institutions

NiMSME had been providing entrepreneurship and skill development training to the first generation entrepreneurs and helping and supporting them in the establishment of their enterprises. Government makes consistent and concerted efforts to accelerate and promote entrepreneurship by providing support for strengthening of training infrastructure as well as programme support
