Bengaluru to host FICCI International Sustainability Conference 2013 in June

Government of Karnataka is committed to further the ideals of Sustainable Development, i.e., Performance on Social, Environmental & Governance aspects. That’s why, we are partnering with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) to host the International Sustainability Conference 2013 on June 25, 26, this year in Bengaluru,” said  M.N. Vidyashankar  IAS, Principal Secretary , Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Karnataka.  He was speaking at a Press Conference and a curtain-raiser organised by FICCI Sustainability Subcommittee about the 2-day International Sustainability Conference 2013 to take place in Bengaluru in the month of June 2013. A brochure and web site of the conference were formally unveiled on the occasion.

Speaking about the Conference, Ananda UVL, Chairperson, FICCI Sustainable Development Subcommittee said “The principal objective of the Conference is to make sustainable development a more understood and standardised practice. That’s why we have invited International experts from Sustainability Victoria, Government of Australia, Fair Labor Association (FLA) from Washington DC, and many others to share their knowledge and proficiency on the subject.” A select group of corporate leaders, diplomatic missions, NGOs were present on this occasion of brochure launch.

The theme of the 2-day Conference is on Business Responsibility and will focus on three principle Business Responsibility topics such as: Sustainable Supply Chain, Sustainability Innovation and Responsible Investment.

The 2-day conference in June 2013 will host an inaugural session on day one, followed by panel discussions on topics such as; responsible investment, water-energy nexus and Business responsibility: Social & Governance. The Day two will focus exclusively on Sustainable Supply Chain with panel discussions on three vital sectors: Food (including agriculture) & Retail, Auto and textile. The British Deputy High Commission, Bangalore and Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany are actively supporting the panel discussions on the Sustainable supply Chain on day two.

 More than 350 delegates consisting of CEOs, CFOs Chief Sustainability Officers, NGOs, dignitaries from the Government, Diplomatic missions, students of management, academicians, industry Associations and Trade Promotion Councils and Civil society organizations are expected to attend the Conference.
