PES University, one of India’s leading universities, is holding a two-day workshop on the subject: Emerging Trends in Photovoltaic Systems. The workshop on 14th and 15th March 2014is being conducted to provide an informative platform to students to garner an in-depth insight into principles, design and applications of photovoltaic systems.
Photovoltaic systems refer to an emerging technology which employs an arrangement of components, designed to supply usable electric power for a variety of purposes with the Sun as the power source. Driven by environmental considerations, interest in PV is showing a healthy rise in the minds of both the public and the electric power community. The workshop aims to galvanise a comprehensive evaluation of various benefits of PV systems, capabilities of power converters with PV systems, design issues associated with current applications and to augment the overall awareness of students and attendees. The event is sponsored by TEQIP (Phase II).
Prof. Jawahar Doreswamy, Pro-Chancellor, PES University and CEO, PES Institutions, said, “Photovoltaic technology holds the promise for the future. However, these systems are still in their inchoate stage due to a general concern regarding their cost and size. With this workshop, we aim to provide a space for discussions and solutions on how to create more widespread application of these systems with a detailed study of policies, regulations, incentives, financial models and demos of existing working systems.”
Students with a keen interest in the Sciences from all across the nation are expected to participate in the workshop. Faculty and researchers from various institutes and R&D organisations will also be present to share their valuable insights, making the workshop a superlative space for interactions with industry experts.

About PES University:
Founded in 1972, PES University today has more than 20,000 students spread across four different campuses in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The University focuses on four main educational areas: Engineering, Medicine, Management and Life Sciences. The institution offers both foundation courses in these areas, as well as specialization with Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees.
PES has evolved to emerge as a leader in the field of education with an intrinsic spirit that sums its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These KPIs primarily focus on the students and teachers alongwith other KPIs (Process, Placement, Publication, Paper, patents). From academic excellence to leadership qualities, a nurturing environment to cutting-edge infrastructure, PES University offers everything students need to fortify their future in a highly competitive scenario.
Besides equipping students with in-depth knowledge and a firm grasp of their chosen field, it also nurtures a holistic set of skills that equip them to face the real world.
