ECONOMIC RURAL DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY (ERDS) is an NGO working in four districts of West Bengal,.since 1982. It is mainly focused on child education, child sponsorship programme, support to elderly persons, women empowerment, campaign against child trafficking, vocational training, construction of low cost sanitary latrine and micro-credit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech had expressed concern over the non availability of toilets in rural India including schools and mentioned the pain and agony suffered by women folks in villages due to lack of proper sanitation facilities.
