Commenting about his new role, Prof. Rajiv K Sinha, Dean, MYRA School of Business, said, “Rethinking the model of education from the ground level has meant infusing fresh perspectives and thinking from some of the best minds in the academia. At MYRA our effort is to inculcate teaching methodologies which best address the industry’s current needs and add to intellectual diversity in the classroom. With a distinguished combination of a global faculty, a unique learning model and a special practicum based on sustainable new product development, it will now truly be possible for MYRA to set new benchmarks in Indian Business Education.”
Prof. D. Shrijay Devaraj Urs, Founder Mentor of MYRA, said, “Being a development economist, I look at management from a development perspective. Keeping the current economic turmoil and instability of financial markets that has raised a number of significant public policy issues pertaining to financial stability, regulation of markets and consumer protection, we believe it is necessary to rethink business fundamentals and redesign management education by focusing on the triple bottom line--the expanded spectrum of criteria for measuring organizational and societal success based on economic, ecological and social values. This rethinking has led us embed mandatory practicum based “Social Entrepreneurship” courses in our curriculum.”
Commenting about her brainchild, Prof. Shalini Urs, Chairperson and Founder, Mysore Royal Academy (MYRA), said, in the current scenario, where the country is cluttered by a horde of B-schools, the credibility of a B-School is measured by its Dean, faculties and its ability to design teaching models which address the current challenges in the industry. Understanding this, at MYRA we have worked together to offer a holistic learning experience supported by a rich pedagogy, futuristic campus, a curriculum that ensures strong foundations across the management spectrum and in depth understanding of chosen specializations and diverse student community. Through this 360 degree approach, we seek to prepare the graduates of MYRA to give life to their visionary entrepreneurial goals, and face the dynamic corporate world with utmost competency and rigor.”
MYRA has established relationships with over 25 leading corporate houses in India. These relationships will be optimally utilized for absorbing curriculum from the industry, for guest lectures, for campus placements, internships etc.
The campus is designed by award winning architects, based on TadaoAndo,’s philosophy of creating architectural spaces in which one can experience—as one does with poetry or music—surprise, discovery, intellectual stimulation, and Joie de vivre.
The school follows a rigorous selection process, which entails selecting candidates who have a minimum of two years of professional experience, a strong academic background and an above average score in the MBA entrance exams. MYRA seeks candidates who possess the values of pursuit; perseverance and passion along with the willingness go the extra mile. The admissions for the first batch are set to commence from July 2012.
