DS Research Centre Launches Special Awareness camp On ‘World Tobacco Day’


On the Occasion of world Tobacco Day D. S. Research Center, a premier research institute developing treatments through the Science of Nutrient Energy based on Ancient Ayurveda  across India, will launch a special nationwide drive to create awareness about cancer, its treatments and rehabilitation.  The institute will organize free registration and consultation for cancer patient on 31st May’2012 in Bangalore.

Dr. Geethanjali   Mada, Said, “Cigarette smoking is clearly identified as the chief, preventable cause of death in our society. Many lives can be saved by strengthening tobacco control measures we expect non-patients to also participate in this initiative to cheer everyone and spread the message.”

There are approximately 120 million smokers in world  wide, about 37 percent of all men and 5 percent of all women between the ages of 30 and 69. The government is taking several steps to control tobacco use, including making special efforts to inform people who are poor or illiterate about the dangers of smoking. According to the study, more than 50 percent of the tobacco-related deaths in India occur among illiterate men or women, and80 percent of those people reside in rural India. This estimates that smoking-related deaths worldwide will surpass 9 million annually by2020—with 7 million of those deaths occurring in developing nations. Ayurveda  and Nutrient Energy based medicine is amongst the most sought after treatment by patients. . In 2004, an NCI-funded study based on expert opinion found that the median mortality risks relative to smoking with low-nitrosamine smokeless tobacco (LN-SLT) products were estimated to be 5% for total mortality, 2% to 3%for lung cancer, 10% for heart disease, and 15% to 30% for oral cancer
