Panasonic, the global leader in innovation and technology today announced the establishment of its first R&D subsidiary in India, the Panasonic Research & Development Centre India (PRDCI) in Gurgaon, Haryana. The PRDCI starts its activities in line with Panasonic’s plans to make India a hub for the development of products that will contribute to the future Indian market and help realize green innovation for a sustainable society. The PRDCI is established as Panasonic’s 9th R&D centre in emerging countries following China and Vietnam and is expected to expand its operational scale in India.
Commenting on the new R&D centre in Haryana, Mr. Daizo Ito, President of Panasonic India said, “India is a significant market for us and is a pool of immense potential as well as talent, essential for our business growth. The opening of PRDCI is in line with Panasonic’s vision is to address global needs as well as to develop products for the Indian market keeping in mind the increasing demands and their specific requirements.” He further added, “Through PRDCI activities, Panasonic India reinforces its presence and hopes to contribute to develop products and create business which is familiar to Indian market.”
The new R&D centre is situated at the Sewa Corporate Park, off MG Road in Gurgaon. This R&D centre will primarily focus on:
* Promoting open innovation with Indian universities and companies to create new business opportunities with and for domain companies
* Researching future needs and leading edge technology in India
* Constructing R&D basis with any strategic information such as IPR, standardization and industrial world movement
“One of the focus areas for the centre will be to develop products relating to the future needs of the Indian market. The PRDCI will also be looking at developing energy management and AV products towards business expansion in India and promote open innovation with Indian universities and companies to create new business,“ said Mr. Ron T.
