K C Aiyappa from BGC becomes the third golfer on the team to play at the Louis Philippe Cup
The third and final qualifier for the Puravankara Bangalore Amateur team at the Bangalore Golf Club saw intense competition as close to 180 golfers battled over two days for the lone spot on the team. K C Aiyappa steered ahead of the competition, scoring 42 Nett points calculated under the stableford format to secure his berth on the Puravankara Bangalore Team



Teeing off on the first day of the competition, K C Aiyappa (Handicap 15) displayed great composure under pressure, scoring 42 points to finish on the top of the leader board. Madhavi Reddy, starting off a Handicap of 9 fought hard through the 18 holes, but had to settle for the runner-up position with 40 points, narrowly losing out on the opportunity to represent the Puravankara Bangalore Team.



With his win, K C Aiyappa will join Saif Mekhri of Eagleton and Avinash Deoskar of the KGA to complete the amateur trio that shall join Anirban Lahiri as members of the Puravankara Bangalore Amateur team. They will have high expectations to live up to, as the inaugural edition of the Louis Philippe Cup saw Bangalore team finish runners-up in the Pro-Am competition.



In a unique and competitive format for all participants, the combined 36 hole scores of the three member pro and three member amateur teams will determine the winners of the Pro-am Title, to be held on first two days of the tournament. However, the scores of the three member pro team will determine which four pro city teams progress to the semi-finals and then the finals of the Louis Philippe Cup to be held between the 11th and 16th of February 2013 at the Greg Norman designed Jaypee Greens Golf Resort in Greater Noida.



The second edition of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) sanctioned Louis Philippe Cup will see 9 city teams comprising of the top 18 ranked golfers on the final 2012 PGTI Rankings display their golfing prowess. With renowned Indian golfers including Jeev Milkha Singh (Shubhkamna Noida), recent winner of McLeod Russel championship - SSP Chowrasia (TAKE Chennai) and two time Asian Tour winner Gaganjeet Bhullar (Dev Ellora Chandigarh) and Asian Tour winner Anirban Lahiri (Puravankara Bangalore) attempting to guide their team to trophy and a winners' purse of 36 lakhs, the IPL version of golf will see some nail-biting competition.



Following the first season at the KGA in Bangalore that saw immense support from the crowd and some scintillating performances from the top pros, the second edition, with a total prize money of Rs. 1.2 crores aims to get fans more involved in the sport and establish the immensely talented golfers as genuine superstars in their field.
