Indo German Orthopedic Foundation (IGOF) will be organizing a three day long master's course for orthopedic surgeons and Post Graduate students in Orthopedics from 1st March 2013. With an attempt to encourage maximum interaction and fellowship, IGOF has prepared a novel programme for the first time in Odisha.
For Orthopedic Surgeons, taking decision on fixing broken bones of patients or replace it with artificial joints is indeed a difficult one. To deliberate on this issue and come up with guidelines that would help both patients and consultants to take wise decisions, IGOF is organizing a three day long master course programme on Trauma, Arthroscopy & Joint Replacement Surgery here in Bhubaneswar.
There are many scientific sessions and seminars which will feature unique programmes to ensure dialogue, discussion and debates. This is the only way we can progress as clinicians – by asking and answering questions, said Dr. Smarajit Patnaik, Organising Secretary of IGOF 2013. Dr Smarajit Patnaik is currently working as Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals Bhubaneswar. The three daylong conference features – The Great Debate, Meet the Masters and The Grand Orthopedic Quiz and even an award the Mohandas – Weller Gold Medal to the most promising Young Orthopedic Surgeon is slated to be given away during the programme.
Senior and renowned consultants from abroad and various parts of the country are scheduled to attend the novel programme. Live surgery, recorded surgery, discussion with panel discussion on rare and complex cases is scheduled to take place during the programme.
The aim of Indo German Orthopedic Foundation (IGOF) is to promote friendship, comradeship and collaboration between Indian and German Orthopaedic Surgeons. IGOF over the years has conducted several courses, symposia and seminars on various subjects related to Trauma, Spinal Surgery and Joint Replacement Surgeries all over India. So far IGOF has conducted more than 28 courses in India. IGOF has awarded 62 Fellowships to Indian Surgeons to visit Orthopedic Centre in Germany. The federation has contributed in refining the knowledge and skills of young Indian Surgeons.
