International Copper Promotion Council India (ICPCI), a member of Copper Alliance and the Indian arm of International Copper Association organised a seminar for electrical engineers on ‘Safe Electrical Systems for Modern Buildings’ as a step to build awareness on safety and quality of Electrical installations in Bangalore. The seminar was flagged off by an expert panel comprising of Amol Kalsekar – Chief Manager- Building Wire, ICPCI; E. Anandan – Dy. General Manager- Cholamandalam Risk services and a panel of other industry experts.
Amol Kalsekar – Chief Manager- Building Wire, (ICPCI) said, “There is very little or no awareness amongst electrical consultants related to safe electrical systems and Power quality in Buildings. In the past few years we have seen a large number of electrical faults and short circuits leading to fires, enormous financial loss and above all loss of precious human life. There is a demand for such programs to reach out to the industry experts and public in general and make them realize the importance of power quality for safe living.
He further added “ICPCI chose to conduct this seminar in Bangalore because increased construction activity has been reported here recently. We will be taking this initiative further to other cities to maximize our reach for a greater impact.”
E. Anandan, Dy. General Manager- Cholamandalam Risk Services said, “In today’s growing demand of modern housing, many contractors do not pay attention to the safety systems in buildings. A lot of fires are caused due to faulty wiring practices by electrical consultants who are unaware of the causes that attribute to such cases of short circuit. Creating awareness amongst electrical suppliers, engineers, and real estate consultants is need of the hour. Through ICPCI’s initiative I am sure we will be able to achieve safety and higher standards for the industry.”
A.N Thyagaraja, Chief Engineer, PWD- C&B said “We are very proud to be associated with ICPCI and its initiatives. Today’s seminar is an eye-opener for many electrical consultants who can now go out and apply safety measures when installing electrical devices.
