Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre (NHCC) & Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), managed by ACCOR (which is a major global group and the European leader in hotels) celebrated the World Environment Day on the 5th June by organizing activities that support environment protection and energy conservation. As a part of celebration, NHCC employees and the hotel guests have participated in activities to protect the natural surroundings and to create awareness about environmental sustainability.
The celebrations began with a Sapling Plantation Drive by the employees at CR Foundation Old age Home in Kondapur, Hyderabad. The staff and the management at NHCC & HICC spent quality time with the residents of the old age home and served them breakfast. The activity brought miles of smiles to the old people who were overwhelmed by the gesture.
A free Pollution Check-up Camp was organized at HICC to help reduce the pollution levels in Hyderabad and improve the efficiency of vehicles for better output and lesser fuel consumption. As a part of the camp, vehicles of the employees & vendors of HICC & NHCC were checked for air pollution levels and carbon footprint. The camp was very well received by the employees who came forward in large number for their vehicle evaluation and correction. The employees of NHCC and HICC also participated in lake cleaning activity in the hotel premises. About 50 Volunteers from various departments took part in this activity. The staff had collected 30 bags full of garbage which contained plastic/glass bottles, iron scrap; dry leafs etc from the lake each weighing about 40 Kilos. The staff and management also participated in a 20 Km bicycle ride which was organized in association with APIIC and Hyderabad Bicycle Club. Keeping in line with the present year’s theme of “Think Eat & Save” the management and staff of NHCC & HICC also committed its support for food safety and conversation.
