Body Talk opens centre in Hyderabad

Body Talk, a scientifically evolved workshop format designed for children between 3-12 years of age (grouped together by age) aimed to develop self confidence, creativity and communication skills opens its first centre in Hyderabad today.

Body Talk uses dance movements which is a natural method for learning and a basic form of cultural expression. Children learn movement patterns as readily as they learn language.

Body Talk is a powerful ally for developing many of the attributes of a growing child. The program helps children mature emotionally, socially, physically and cognitively.

Developmental benefits and unique learning opportunities that come from creative movements; makes it essential to include dance/ movement in educational systems apart from regular subjects.

Body Talk module takes its roots from classical dance thus giving it a framework and structure. The program has fixed objectives for each age group. It aims to nurture the child’s creative spirit and explore their ideas. Through improvisation children learn to use both their bodies and mind; to think, collaborate and communicate with confidence.

"A child's capacity to understand the world around, to communicate with others and to establish a strong se nse of self is grounded in the early sensory and movement experiences available to them." Jean Piaget, child behavioral psychologist.

Dance and children are two things I love the most. Body talk is very close to my heart because it has been carefully thought off and combines dance, theatre and music. The most satisfying moment is when I see the joy on the children’s face and the freedom they feel when they are allowed to express themselves. I have believed that creativity is as important as learning any subject. Making it a part of our everyday life is what I would like to achieve through Body Talk. I would like to quote one child who told me after class, “ Every week I look forward to the class because it makes me feel confidant when I can create what I want without being judged”,  said Preeti Sunderajan – Founder Director- Shiri.

"Being a mother of two, best explains my admiration for Body Talk. I felt Body Talk is a package of all the elements of performing arts and a best tool of imagination for children. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of it and look forward to making Body talk a part of nurturing creativity and educating the children here in Hyderabad", said Ms Vani Surabhi.

Academic education can be stressful and children can get demoralized or perform badly under pressure. Working with movement can free the child’s mind and give them confidence and joy of self expression. When I first saw the film of Body talk, I was very impressed. This is something unique and different. I am very happy that Body talk is being introduced in Hyderabad. I always encourage creativity in young children" said Ms Amala Akkineni.
