"Kyocera is planning to set up a software R&D centre in India, probably in Gurgaon or Bangalore. We are working out the budget, but, it could be up to Rs 100 crore,"  Kyocera Documents India Managing Director K Swetharanyan.

At present, it is in discussions stage and planning to work it out in the next 3 years. The software development facility in India will be in addition to Japan and California-based centres and will be for the entire Kyocera Document Solutions Group, he added.

“We are also looking at the option of either starting a R&D centre or outsource it to a major Indian software developer. We will also discuss it with the major software developers in India,” he said.

The R&D facility will work on softwares for multi-functional products like documentation cost control, document and data security, document management systems, data archival and retrieval and mobile and cloud printing solutions, Swetharanyan added.
