Dell and CIO Association of India announced the results of “India’s best CIO mega trends 2014’, a survey covering 50 of India’s best CIOs. Dell and CAI conducted the survey at the recently concluded ‘India’s Best CIOs’ event to assess the top IT trends that will dominate 2104 and challenge influencing their adoption, as seen by India’s leading CIOs. India’s Best CIOs is an award that honours top 50 CIOs in India through a peer to peer voting system- industry’s first democratized awards.
Ravi Bharadwaj, Executive Director, Marketing, Dell India said, “We make it our business at Dell to understand our customers’ requirements and thereby empower them to do more with the end to end solutions we offer. ‘India’s Best CIO Mega Trends 2014’ survey is an initiative in this direction aimed at deriving a better understanding of the challenges and priorities of CIOs in today’s complex IT environment. We are grateful to the participants of the survey for their contribution.”
Both Big Data and BYOD emerged as the most prominent trends with close to 60% of CIOs acknowledging the role these technologies will play in 2014. The survey busted the myth that budgetary concerns were the most significant challenge when it came to implementation of these emerging technologies. Lack of Talent emerged as the most significant challenge faced by CIOs with 21% of respondents citing it as a major challenge, followed by Security Threat (19%), Changing
business priorities (19%) and lastly Lack of Budgets (14%) & Businesses Not Bought into Technology (14%).
The survey covered respondents from a range of industries including retail, insurance infrastructure and pharma amongst others. Other significant trends that the survey spotted include Datacenter Transformation (19 %) and Desktop Virtualisation (19%) - also seen by CIOs as IT trends that will dominate this year.
The participants of the survey consisted of India’s Best CIOs who were selected via a unique peer based nomination process aimed at identifying and promoting the role played by CIOs as leaders in business and technology and to acknowledge their contribution to the industry. India’s Best CIOs is India’s first democratized peer voting CIO award to recognize India’s best 50 CIOs, instituted by the CIO Association of India and supported by Dell.
