Women’s Day is being observed across the world . In the midst of these festivities however, there is a cross-section of women, who do not have reason to celebrate. Chronic illnesses can take down even the strongest of human spirits – cancer is one such disease. It is an ailment that crushes not only the body and mind, but the soul and spirit as well.
On March 8, when the world celebrates womanhood – Hairline International Hair and Skin Clinic and Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology have come together for a meaningful purpose. Hairline International is providing high-quality wigs to the cancer institute for distribution among their female patients. These wigs are imported, and made of treated human hair. They have been created such that they will match, quite closely, with the general hair color of most women. These wigs may even be used in the remission stage, as a hair extension to improve the looks of thin hair.
Bani Anand, Managing Director and Founder of Hairline International, says, “One of the fallouts of chemotherapy is the loss of hair. For women, this often means a loss of self-esteem as well. We wanted to do something to help boost morale and believe that these wigs will make a small difference to the quality of life these women have, especially during these trying times. Wigs and hair patches will serve to do just that.
Hairline is also donating imported cooling caps to women cancer patients in their initial stages of hair fall. Cooling caps restrict hairfall in cancer patients. These cooling caps have to be refrigerated and these are used during chemotherapy sessions. Every 2 hours the patients have to change their cooling caps during the procedure”.
Hairline International also announced that it will provide a 50% discount on all hair enhancement procedures to women cancer patients who approach them.
Dr.M.Vijay Kumar, Director, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology said, “Cancer is an ailment that systematically destroys a person, especially patients in the final stages. For women especially, hair is a symbol of their feminity and a loss can be emotionally devastating. These wigs will help ease the emotional turmoil they undergo”.
The wigs were presented to Dr.M.Vijay Kumar, Director, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology
