Fortis Malar Hospital celebrates Nanhi Chhaan - A step towards saving the girl child

Fortis Malar Hospital in their endeavour towards the upliftment of the girl child, takes another step forward, in their initiative celebrating Nanhi Chhaan. The girl child sex ratio in India has been continuously reducing since independence. In support of girl child ratio, Fortis malar celebrated Nanhi Chhan this year by encouraging three best students of Rani Lady Meiyammai Girls School, Adyar by awarding cash prize and also planting tree saplings at their school premises. The 1st tree saplings was planted by Dr Nithya Ramamurthy, Board Director, Senior consultant & Gynaecologist, Fortis Malar Hospital, Adyar along with the awardees.

“Empowerment is a continuous process and cannot be perceived as a one-time project.  We are proud to celebrate “Nanhi Chhaan” and glad that we are able to encourage, empower and make a difference in a girl child’s life. It’s time to rewire our mindsets and let the girl baby be born again. Through this initiative, we are not only trying to create awareness on saving the baby girl but we also hope to plant more tress which will benefit the environment. Children are our future and there is lot that we can do to uplift underprivileged children, especially girls.” says Mr Harish Manian, Facility Director, Fortis Malar Hospital.

Fortis Malar had also sponsored a girl child, and has arranged screening facility for 100 children at AIDE – ET Action India, an organization for the underprivileged.
