NARAYANA HEALTH ORGANIZES EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR BBMP WOMEN EMPLOYEES

Doctors from Narayana Health City today concluded a two-day workshop for BBMP women employees and educated them on cervical cancer, prevention, symptoms and treatment modalities. This re-orientation program was second in the series of an ongoing educational program every month.

Cervical cancer kills about 2.5 million women worldwide. Cervical cancer strikes women in their 40s and 50s and the disease is more lethal in India. With greater awareness and educational programs such as this, the disease can be prevented.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Suchitra MS, Gynae Oncologist, Narayana Health City said, “It’s our ongoing effort to raise the levels of awareness amongst the people on diseases that pose a high mortality risk. BBMP employees reached out to us and as our responsibility, we organized this education program.”  Spokesperson further added, to begin with we are focusing on issues related to a woman’s health as BBMP has XX number of women employees.”

Attended by over 160 women employees, the two day session covered various important factors about cervical cancer along with cases of women who have survived this life threatening disease due to timely diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Venkatesh, Nodal Officer - National Urban Health Mission, Government of Karnataka said, “Women are the backbone of our BBMP family hence we decided to associate with Narayana Health City to give them a gift of good health. These educational sessions will be hosted on a monthly basis reaching out to more and more employees of BBMP. We are glad that women in such large numbers came forward to attend this program. We are motivated to do more for them.”
