Chitralekhan 2014’ by MAAC and Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (CKP)
Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), the leading 3D animation and VFX institute, joins hand with Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (CKP) to present ‘Chitralekhan 2014’ - an unique painting and sketching competition for animation students. Fully supported by CKP, the event aims at fostering young artists by providing them a platform to exhibit their skills. More than 300 entries in painting and sketching categories have been received for exhibition. Winners in both categories receive a cash prize of Rs. 5000 each. Renowned writer and author of five best sellers, Ms Preeti Shenoy preside the event as Chief Guest and handed the awards to winners. Mr. RH Kulkarni, Principal, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishatha, was Guest of Honour for the day.

This is the first time MAAC Bangalore is organizing Chitralekhan in partnership with CKP. CKP, which is considered to be an art behemoth and known to churn out the best artist from India, usually displays only professional artwork has decided to break away from the tradition by allowing exhibition of artworks by amateur artists as well. The joint endeavour of CKP and MAAC will offer animation students access to opportunities to showcase their skills and cultivate it further to create best artworks.

Mr. Shajan Samuel, Sr. Vice-President, MAAC (India) said, “Sketching and painting are baseline requirements to build a career in the animation. We realize the need to provide students with skills in painting and sketching a platform like Chitralekhan to nurture their talent.  We are hopeful that students will benefit out of this event.”
