After the successful completion of the two batches for the Sewing Training program, Gangavaram Port Limited has started the third batch of “Sewing Training program” for the women. The program was inaugurated by Mr. K. Raja Ratnam Naidu, Senior Vice-President (R R & Security), Mr. LPS. Ramu Naidu and Assistant Vice-President (Liaison) at ceremony held today. The program which involve 45 days of training in basic concepts of stitching and clothing designs comprises of 50 women who have been selected from Gangavaram village. Apart from organizing the classes GPL will also provide transportation facility for the convenience of the women who will be attending the program. Upon completing the tailoring program, each woman will be issued certificate which will help the women get employment locally or at apparel parks.
The Sewing training classes which were started by Gangavaram Port as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility Program has received a great response from the people in the neighboring villages. So far more than 110 women have received the training under two batches and have got an opportunity to supplement the family income. From the two batches over 40 have been placed in the apparel park and others have been able to support their families by taking up tailoring jobs in the village.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. K. Raja Ratnam Naidu, Senior Vice-President (R R & Security) Gangavaram Port Limited said, “We are extremely happy at the response we have received for the program so far. GPL aims to uplift and give equal status to the women of the surrounding areas through activities like sewing and stitching programs. The main aim of this program is to enhance the quality of life of women through increased knowledge and skills. We will continue this exercise and are confident that the program will benefit the women in our neighboring villages”
