NASSCOM BROADENS ITS VISION TO INCLUDE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY

While the previous summits have addressed issues around the business imperative of gender inclusivity, NASSCOM has widened its horizon to include factors such as age, culture, gender and differently-abled. The NASSCOM Diversity and Inclusivity Summit being held at Bangalore’s Leela Palace from December 8-9, is the first such summit event that examines diversity and inclusivity in the context of India and its socio-cultural and economic pluralities. This year’s conclave is themed around “Diversity and Inclusivity Actions - Winning in a Transforming Economy”.
NASSCOM also announced the winners of Gender Inclusivity Awards for this year. These awards, in the third year now, honour companies in the IT-BPO industry which have implemented outstanding practices that promote gender empowerment and women leadership development.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM said “The Indian IT-BPO industry has set high standards in inclusivity and is among the first to recognize the business imperative for Diversity and Inclusion. Recognizing the global leverage of our “demographic dividend” and that women are a vital part of our workforce, the industry is working towards developing a diverse and inclusive workforce for the world. These awards recognize companies who are doing outstanding work enabling inclusivity and NASSCOM congratulates the winners on behalf of the industry and thanks them for their admirable effort towards promoting gender empowerment.”
NASSCOM on the sidelines of the summit also launched WEConnect India, an affiliate of WEConnect International which is an organization that reaches out to women owned businesses, certifies them according to established international norms and connects them to Fortune 500 companies, a global partner network and other women owned businesses. The goal of WEConnect India is to create competitive advantages and foster sustainable economic growth for women owned businesses.
