NEW AGE OPPORTUNITIES- CLOUD, MOBILE & SOCIAL PLATFORMS

The keynote address was delivered by Ms. Ellen Daley, Vice President & Practice Leader, Forrester Research. The conclave was organized to brainstorm on new age opportunities for software companies via cloud, mobile & social platforms.

The explosion of App Innovation will continue to drive tech industry novelty which will have far-reaching implications for software and services providers on pricing and go-to-market strategies. A second round of innovation will leverage the intersection of cloud-based services; Smart Computing; and newly app- and Internet-enabled devices like cars, appliances, and entertainment systems.

To support and recognize the efforts of companies in the mobile app space and provide them visibility, NASSCOM EMERGE Forum also announced the winners of the NASSCOM AppFame 2011. This was a great opportunity for the top 7 mobile applications to create awareness amongst the user community about their apps.

The mobile apps revolution is here. According to Gartner estimates, mobile users across the globe will pay more than $6.2 billion to buy ‘mobile applications’ — games, social net- working tools, productivity and entertainment-based mini programmes for mobile phones. Apps have become the business with the fastest turnaround time in the software industry. Mobile apps have brought the world to the users fingertips and is now bringing about a revolution in communication.
