Spar Hypermarkets celebrated a two day exotic Wine Festival on the 17th Dec 2011 at their Banerghatta Road store. Several wine brands from India and across the world participated in this festival. The festival offered Spar customers an opportunity to be part of the traditional grape stomping . Leading Kannada Actors- ‘Ragini Dwivedi was also part of the festival. The wine festival also offered range of wines for sampling coupled with consulting on food-pairing.
The Wine Festival showcased wines from all over the world and gave customers a chance to experience and understand the vast world of wine. Brands like Sula, Kinvah, Big Banyan, Nine Hills, Grover, Season, Kingfisher etc were part of this festival. This year’s event witnessed an increase in the number of customers. Many of them enthusiastically participated in the Grape Stomping Ceremony, which is one-of-its kind in the city.
Commenting about the festival, Mr. Ponnu Subhramanian, Senior VP– Buying & Merchandising (Foods) & SCM, Max Hypermarkets India Pvt. Ltd, said, “Spar’s Wine Festival is a great platform that brings together like-minded wine enthusiasts to interact with wine producers, sample a range of wine brands and to get a feel of the traditional grape stomping.” He also added, “It is very exciting to know that there is a growing trend of wine drinkers in the city and we are delighted to offer our customers a vast range of wines. We are also very pleased that the celebrities as well as our customers enjoyed themselves by participating in the grape stomping activity.”
As the day wore on and the sun obligingly slipped behind some clouds, the number of people streaming into the Bannerghatta store increased considerably and the winery represebtatives barely had time to breathe. Customers were seen in animated discussions about wines and the best foods that go along with their favourites.
