Forrester Awards Compuware Top Scores in Comprehensive Evaluation of Application Performance Management Market

Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR), the technology performance company, today announced it received top scores for its Application Performance Management offering from Forrester Research, Inc. in the December 2011 “Market Overview: Application Performance Management, Q4 2011” report. The report evaluated 26 vendors on APM functionality based on Forrester’s APM Reference Model.

Compuware received the highest score possible in eight out of ten categories and the second-highest score in the other two categories. No other vendor received higher aggregate scores across the ten categories.

Vendors were evaluated in these ten categories of APM functionality: 1).end user experience monitoring using a passive appliance; 2). response time monitoring using a scripted robot or active agent; 3). transaction tracing and mapping; 4). application monitoring--Java/.NET; 5). packaged application monitoring--Oracle, SAP etc.; 6). infrastructure monitoring--including virtualization; 7). database performance monitoring; 8). messaging technology monitoring; 9). monitoring of applications in public cloud (IaaS); and 10). dashboard reporting and analytics.

According to the report: “The current economic conditions favor short-term returns on investments. In today’s economy, IT organizations tend to favor tactical over strategic initiatives. Application performance management is seen as a way to provide a quick return on investment in a very critical and visible part of IT.”

Also, in the report, Forrester Vice President and Principal Analyst, JP Garbani wrote: “Compuware offers a full complement of end user monitoring solutions, from subscription services to a multiprotocol passive appliance, and the ability to monitor phones and tablet devices in real time. To this impressive list, Compuware has now added dynaTrace, which brings always on, end-to-end transaction tracing and monitoring to complement the Compuware Gomez® platform, which includes Gomez SaaS products and on-premises products (formerly branded ‘Vantage’).”

“We believe that this report is just more proof of our strength and leadership in the APM market,” said John Van Siclen, General Manager of Compuware’s APM business unit. “We agree with Forrester that when organizations invest in APM they can realize short-term payback in areas such as increased revenue and decreased cost. We see this happen every day in both large and small companies who improve their business using Compuware’s APM solution.”

The Compuware Gomez platform is the industry’s leading solution for optimizing the performance of Web, non-Web, mobile, streaming and cloud applications. Driven by end-user experience, Gomez provides a unified view across the entire application delivery chain, from a user’s browser or mobile device, across the Internet or a corporate WAN, in the cloud, to inside the data center, eliminating blind spots from the First Mile to the Last Mile.
