Maveric Systems wins recognition from the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (Ministry of Science & Technology)

Maveric Systems, a leading global independent software testing specialist, today announced that its R&D facility has been accorded recognition by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR). Located in the IIT Madras Research Park, Maveric’s R&D facility is now a registered unit with the DSIR. This accreditation comes after an exhaustive, 18-month long assessment by the DSIR and is a validation of Maveric’s significant R&D efforts in Software Testing.

Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) comes under the Ministry of Science & Technology and is the nodal department for granting recognition to in-house R&D units in Industry, and Scientific and Industrial Research Organizations (SIROs). The key objectives of DSIR are to bring in-house R&D into sharper focus, strengthen R&D infrastructure and promote R&D initiatives, and ensure that the contributions made by the in-house R&D centres and SIROs dovetail adequately in the overall context of technological and industrial development.

This accreditation will fuel further investments into collaboration initiatives with teaching and research institutes and also enable better access to government institutions looking for testing tools and services.

Maveric’s R&D facility in IIT Madras Research Park

Maveric has an MoU with IIT Madras, wherein IIT Madras helps Maveric further its R&D in software testing through a combination of research projects, consultancy, student sponsorship and joint IP development activities. Under the aegis of this partnership, Maveric set up a dedicated R&D facility with a 40-member team in IIT Madras Research Park in July 2010. This R&D centre has a strong focus on creating IP that helps to substantially improve the quality of test design, quickens test execution and achieves exponential reduction in testing cycle times. (See table for details.)

Maveric’s R&D focus

1. Testac: Domain-independent Test Design Framework which helps to significantly reduce Test Design timelines and therefore enables faster deployment of applications by business

2. Functional Domain Models: Encapsulation of process, rules and key drivers relating to specific functional domains to ensure reliable test coverage

3. Automate: Tools and frameworks to quicken the execution timeframes

Commenting on the accreditation, Mr. V N Mahesh, Executive Director and Co-founder of Maveric Systems, said, “This recognition is a huge honour and great validation of our IP strength and capabilities. Over the last 3 years, we have invested about INR 3 crore in R&D aimed at furthering our twin mantras of ‘Design Better’ and ‘Execute Faster’. This accreditation is a strong acknowledgement of our ongoing commitment to innovation and will provide a fillip to our objective of achieving over 30% of revenues from IP-enabled services by 2014.”
