Bangalore City Finale of HDFC Life Spell Bee - India Spells 2012

Samvida S.Venkatesh from National Public School, Indiranagar School has won the Bangalore City Finale of HDFC Life Spell Bee - India Spells 2012, the fourth edition of India’s largest spelling competition for school students, held on March 3rd, 2012 at the Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Bangalore. Samvida S.Venkatesh from Bangalore city will compete with winners from 29 other cities at the national final scheduled to be held in Mumbai later. HDFC Life Spell Bee-India Spells 2012 powered by the Times of India, in association with Horlicks, an Initiative by 360 Degree’s Experience is the Indian counterpart of the highly acclaimed Scripps Spelling Bee. National Public School, Indiranagar School school is associated with Times NIE who also happens to be the Education partner for the event


Following an exciting battle of words among 72 schools in Bangalore, National Public School, Indiranagar School came out victorious. Lavanya .K of Presidency School, RT Nagar school & R.Reshma of National Public School, Indiranagar school were the runners up. Radio Mirchi RJ Raja was present as the quiz master of the competition.


More than 900 enthusiastic students from across the city participated in this preliminary city round reiterating the growing popularity of the HDFC Life Spell Bee-India Spells 2012 among students. Mr. Joseph E Felix - Asst.Professor, Department of English, Christ College, Bangalore graced the occasion as the chief guest for the evening and awarded the winner.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sanjay Tripathy, Executive Vice President and Head, Marketing and Direct Channels, said "I am extremely satisfied with the overwhelming response received in Bangalore, for Spell Bee - India Spells 2012. All winners of each of the participating cities will participate in the Grand Finale in Mumbai. The winner of the Grand Finale along with his or her parent will be sent by 360 Degree’s Experience, a Times Group company to experience the Scripps National Spelling Bee at Washington DC.
