SAP Labs showcases smart grid solution at the Indo German Urban Mela in Bangalore

SAP Labs showcased the utility of smart grids in today’s world through their smart grid model, at the Indo German Urban Mela being held at Palace Grounds, in Bangalore India.
SAP has a long history in the energy industry as a provider of enterprise software solutions that have standardized business processes, and has been a key participant in Smart Grid development from the beginning. SAP works with customer organizations throughout the value chain and around the globe and advices governments on Smart Grid strategies.

Speaking on behalf of SAP Labs, Clas Neumann, Senior Vice President and Global Head, SAP Labs said, “The need for a sustainable tomorrow has led to the development of solutions that help us achieve this. SAP recognizes the need for energy channelization and conservation in today’s rapidly evolving world. We are thrilled to showcase our model at the Indo German Urban Mela to educate the visitors on how ICT enabled energy infrastructure can be used to tap and utilize sustainable sources of energy.“

The hands-on model showcased how a smart grid can conserve energy obtained through sustainable sources during high energy supply and channelize this in order to maintain a constant flow of energy. In this way black outs and scarcity of energy supply is avoided during peak hours. Visitors got to interact with the model to understand how this concept works.

With the new platform, SAP is renewing its existing applications and delivering an entirely new class of applications that change the way people think, work, plan and operate.
