Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) awarded International Copper Promotion Council (India) (ICPCI) for its significant contribution towards the Global Solar Water Heating Project. ICPCI has worked strongly in the area of capacity building for Manufacturers by creating certified Installers for Solar Water Heating Systems across the country. Sanjeev Ranjan, CEO, International Copper Promotion Council (India) was presented this award by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Hon’ble Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, at Vigyan Bhawan.
Sanjeev Ranjan, CEO, International Copper Promotion Council (India) (ICPCI) said, “We are honoured to be a part of this great initiative along with MNRE. Our endeavour has been to increase the quantity and quality of trained installers in this segment, by providing certifications through this program. We have prepared manuals in regional languages which will provide user friendly guidance to the installers. With the success of this campaign, we have moved a step closer in the use of renewable energy. The trained instructors spread across the country will now further train and educate. So by end of the year we’ll have 1000 trained installers to carry out the installation and maintenance work of the equipments.”
ICPCI, a member of Copper Alliance along with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has been working towards promoting the use of Solar Water Heating Systems. As a part of this initiative, ICPCI in association with MNRE, Government of India under UNDP / GEF sponsored Global Solar Water Heater Market Transformation Project, had undertaken a major campaign to create one thousand (1000) certified Installers of Solar Water Heating Systems across India. ICPCI executed certified training programs (theoretical & practical) for Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) instructors who are now training their students thereby creating employment & self-employment opportunities for the youth. Solar Water Heating Systems will soon form a part of the ITI curriculum.
