Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. recently announced the launch of its new initiative ‘Toyota Green Journey’, an ideation and innovation contest to get young college students in India to think about sustainable initiatives for a greener future. In line with Toyota’s global philosophy to promote and create awareness on Hybrid Technology, ‘Toyota Green Journey’ is an endeavor to source and promote green ideas on how frugal innovation can improve waste management, fuel consumption and usage of green technologies in urban Indian households.
The challenge comprises of three rounds of competitions online wherein participants will be asked to present their ideas on frugal initiatives to sustain the environment & promote green future. The chosen 15 groups will then make a final presentation to an esteemed jury consisting of 6 members. The jury consists of Maj. General D. N. Khurana (Retd) Chairman of Center of Public Policy, Govt. of India, Dr. Aditya Mittal, Prof. IIT Delhi, School of Bio Science, Mr. Sunil Goyal, Former CEO, Bharti Teletech & Founder of Nest Angel Fund, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Sales & Marketing, TKM, Mr. Shekar Viswanathan, Deputy Managing Director, Commercial, TKM and Mr. Rohit Ohri, Chairman, Dentsu Communications. Judging the presentations on various parameters, the winners of the competition will each win Rs 1.5 lakhs.
Speaking about the imitative, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, TKM said, "Toyota is considered to be the pioneers of hybrid technology and is renowned for it worldwide. As a part of Toyota's endeavor to educate and create awareness about hybrid technology, we are very happy to announce the launch of Toyota Green Journey involving young bright minds. This initiative will give us an opportunity to connect with students from over 500 institutions in India and help us generate greener ideas to conserve energy and fuel. It will also help us sensitize the participants about the positive effects of hybrid technology.
The contest registration was launched on October 5th and we have already received registration from 1400 teams with more than 2700 students. A majority of the entries received are from premium institutes like IITs, IIMs, ISB Hyderabad, XLRI and universities likes Christ University and Narsee Monjee University. This response is very encouraging and we are expecting more than 5000 students to register before registration closes”, continued Mr. Singh.
