Showcase Malaysia-Bengaluru (an event Showcasing Malaysia Products and Services in Bangalore) was officially inaugurated by the High Commissioner of Malaysia to India, H.E Datuk Naimun Ashakli Mohamad in the presence of L. Krishnan, Past Chairman, CII, Karnataka State Council & Managing Director, Taeutec India P Limited and the Director of Trade and Services Promotion Division of MATRADE, Mr Abu Bakar Koyakutty.

The 3-day exhibition is being held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) and is open to the trade/business community and to the public till 31 May 2014 from 10.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m.

Showcase Malaysia is a single country exhibition tailored exclusively for the Indian business communities to meet up with Malaysian exporters who is here to promote “Made in Malaysia” products to the business communities as well as to the consumers in India. The three-day exhibition will be showcasing product and services from sectors including chemical and biotechnology, franchise, healthcare, lifestyle and wellness, machinery, automotive, furniture and business services.

The last three editions of Showcase Malaysia was held in Mumbai, Pune and Chennai in 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively. The event has now become one of the platforms for the business communities from both countries to meet up and discuss business collaborations.

According to H.E Datuk Naimun, more than 25 companies with business interest in sectors such as Automotive components, machineries, healthcare and wellness, packed food and snacks and various lifestyle products ranging from furniture, cosmetics to perfumes are on display beginning today until Saturday, May 31, 2014. With the wide range of products and services offered by the Malaysian companies at Showcase Malaysia Bengaluru, Datuk Naimun strongly encouraged business communities from Bengaluru and the surrounding cities to grab the opportunities to visit the event and meet up with the Malaysian companies and form new and greater business linkages.
According to MATRADE, Bengaluru has been chosen as another destination for Showcase Malaysia for many reasons. One recent study had quoted Bengaluru as "The Next Decade's Fastest-Growing Cities" backed by the facts that experts projected that by 2025, India would be ranked as the fifth largest consumer market after the United States (US), Japan, China and United Kingdom (UK). MATRADE has been observing this progress and believed that there was no better time for Malaysia to grasp the opportunity to showcase the best of its products and services in a city like Bangalore.
“After covering Chennai, Pune and Mumbai, we focussed on Bangalore, which is one of the fastest growing metropolis in the Indian sub-continent and due to its rapid industrial development," Mr. Abu Bakar Koyakutty shared.
MATRADE also hope that the business communities of both countries, rather than focusing on competition, will continue to work and complement each other and form strategic partnership to take advantage of business opportunities available in both countries as well as venturing into third world countries.  MATRADE also encourages the business communities from both countries to use Showcase Malaysia Bengaluru as one of the platforms to leverage on the Malaysia India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (MICECA).
As for the first quarter of 2014, total trade between the two nations has reached more than 3 billion out of which Malaysia’s imports from India has recorded a figure of more than USD 1 billion and India Imports from Malaysia was nearly USD 2 billion.
