Kenexa Strategic HR Leaders Forum 2011 outlines new agendas for leadership and developmen​t

Kenexa, a global provider of business solutions for human resources hosted ‘Strategic HR Leaders Forum 2011’. The daylong event was scheduled on 10th June at Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai. The forum attracted global and Indian leaders from within the HR industry. The event unveiled innovative insights in ways to create high performance organizations by linking employee engagement to leadership.
 Michael Gegg, Director, International Marketing, Kenexa said “We are pleased with the responses received at this event and the industry insights shared by the experts. We intend to organize similar events to explore new avenues in HR leadership and highlight new findings, which will be advantageous to the industry.”
Over ninety business delegates from across the world attended Strategic HR Leaders Exchange Forum, 2011.  The learning from the following presentations was immense:
Bill Erickson, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President, Kenexa, discussed and examined the most innovative and effective strategies for utilizing employee survey data. Explaining about the High Performance Engagement Model, he said that engagement alone is not enough to ensure performance excellence; energized employees must be enabled to reach their full potential. In his presentation, he discussed that the common drivers of engagement which are Communication, Trust & Confidence in Leadership, Future Vision, Growth & Development, Teamwork & Involvement, Empowerment, Product or Service Quality, and Recognition. Bill emphasized the point that “Who needs to drive” is as important as “What needs to be driven” and also that understanding an organization’s culture is key.
 Phil Braybrooke, International Business Development Director, Kenexa, revealed the facets of high performing leaders, how they impact the business results and their behaviors. He emphasized the changing scenario with the increase of web 2.0 technologies; more usage of internet based technologies and applications and threw light on the fact that executives spend only 3% of their time thinking about this. He accentuated the importance of leadership by saying that 40% of success can be attributed to leadership yet 60% companies are facing leadership shortages and another 30% expect to in the next five years. He finally summarized the High Performance Behaviors and facets of High Performing Leaders and other facts regarding firms that have effective leaders.
 Lakshmi C., Talent Strategy Head of Accenture, shared ideas and practices that have worked in the context of a fast growing organization, with people that are significantly diverse from a geographic, demographic and talent perspective. She shared the best practices of engagement in Accenture and the different programs directed at engaging employees in Accenture at the team, individual, and organizational level.
 Dr. Maninder S. Khalsa, Head - Talent Development & Nurturing of VIOM  Networks and Mr. Anand Garg, Chief Officer, South-West Hub of VIOM  Networks highlighted the ability to identify individual insights and the importance of linking them effectively with a company’s business strategy to ensure executive sponsorship across the business. They presented an integrated approach to building leadership pipeline, VIOM’s leadership journey, and the business benefits of developing a  leadership pipeline.
 Neeta Mohla, Director Kenexa-Inspire One, presented a paper on Leadership Development for Corporations in India.  The paper examined the profiles of leaders at mid-management level within industries like the traditional Manufacturing and Information Technology in Indian new age. Neeta laid out some factual comparisons in both the IT and Manufacturing industries. She concluded by stating facts about the existing gap between the current and desired state of leaders’ Strategic Thinking behaviors across industry sectors; the gap between current and desired states of leaders’, and Levels of Strategic Thinking and Influencing are not the same across the globe for leaders.
