Candor has also tied up with SCCIP International Pte. Ltd (LS Creative Learning Pvt. Ltd.) to integrate Robotic technology into science, art, math and other subjects so that students become effective team players and able problem solvers.

Candor International School is the first Green school in the country. Spread over 20 acres of land amid scenic surroundings, the school, a dream project of the Chairman, Suresh Reddy, took shape and has been opened to students to attend their first day of classes starting August 1, 2011.

peaking at the occasion, Mr. Pradip Das, Principal of Candor International School, shared his views with both the students and teachers about the values and culture of the school. He said, “Candor International School is one of very few international schools in Bangalore started by professionals. Candor’s promoters, trustees, directors, advisory members and partners are all professionals with an altruistic interest in education and its outcome. The management believes not only in the pursuit of academic excellence which challenges the intellect but in raising social awareness through authentic community service activities, a sharpening of moral and ethical consciousness through what is taught and learnt and a heightening of emotional sensitivity through the integration of the visual and performing arts.”

Mr. Das further emphasized the eco-sensitive atmosphere by saying, “The school has been designed to meet the optimum number of 1,110 students and stands on 20 % of the 20 acres. This is in keeping with the requirements of the Indian Green Building Council. The class sizes will remain 24 per class with a staff student ratio of 1:10.”

The school begins with Kindergarten 1 to Grade 9 for the first year. These 9th graders will be the first cohort of Candor students to take the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and will subsequently take the IB Diploma in the following years. Performing Arts Visual Art, Music, Robotics and Sports provide the necessary co-curricular balance to the academic program.

A carefully hand- picked team of well qualified and experienced teachers headed by the Principal will be the guides and learning facilitators to the students.

The school follows the IGCSE and IB curriculum. Students from the US, UK, Singapore, Japan, Korea, the Maldives and various parts of India showcased an international flavor. The school has day scholars as well as regular and weekly boarders.

The buildings in the campus and all other facilities and equipment have been designed to meet the stringent requirements and standards of the Indian Green Building Council. It is also worth noting that the process of cleaning the covered swimming pool at Candor is a child friendly process which uses the latest technology. No chlorine will be used. This means that every attempt is made to conserve energy, harvest rainwater effectively, dispose of waste and save the environment through far-sighted architectural planning. The facilities consist of tennis courts, basketball courts, a covered swimming pool, an athletic track, and indoor sports facilities. Mahesh Bhupathi, the brand ambassador of the school will provide the expertise for the sports activities.

Candor’s year round admission policy ensures that all students, who for various reasons have to transfer mid-term, are given the opportunity to join anytime in the school year and are provided with the necessary support in areas of need.

Candor, as an international school, sees international mindedness as an attitude of the head and heart- an attitude that is open to accepting the best practices from other cultures and nations, that is daring enough to question the wrongs of discrimination on the basis of colour, that is willing to challenge the lurking colonialistic attitudes that creep into international schools, and that is determined at any cost to make the student and learning the focus of its existence.
