The Department of Information Technology, Bio-Technology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, Vision Group on Biotechnology , MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications and ABLE briefed the media today on the run-up to India's largest biotech event – Bangalore INDIA BIO. The twelfth edition, is scheduled from 6th February 2012 to 8th February 2012 at The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore.
Hon’ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri. Ghulam Nabi Azad will inaugurate the event and Shri. D. V. Sadananda Gowda, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka preside over the function. Dr. V. S. Acharya, Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education, Planning & Statistics, Muzrai, Information Technology and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka, Mr. Ron Somers – President, United States India Business Council (USIBC), USA and Dr. M K Bhan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India will be the Guests of Honour.
The focal theme of Bangalore INDIA BIO for this year has been aptly chosen as “India The Emerging Bioeconomy”. Biotechnology offers solution for many of the health, food and fuel problems facing the world. Integration of Biotechnology solutions in these sectors will result in Biotechnology economic growth and thus Biotechnology will be responsible for a significant share of the Country's GDP.
Bangalore INDIA BIO 2012 will witness impressive international participation. There is a significant participation from the United States. Mr. Ron Somers – President, United States India Business Council (USIBC) will lead a 15 member delegation. There will also be business delegations from Georgia and Pennsylvania states.
