HP today announced HP ArcSight Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) 6.0c, the most powerful, scalable security monitoring and compliance solution on the market, helping clients identify and remediate cyberthreats faster than ever before.(1)
Major IT trends such as cloud computing and mobility have resulted in a loss of control and visibility into network activity, increasing potential security risks. This lack of visibility can impede an organization’s ability to protect against cyberthreats, which can lead to the loss of sensitive data, service disruption and damage to an organization’s reputation. However, traditional Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems lack the ability to identify true security threats among the vast quantity of data generated.
HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c is the first software solution to include the HP Correlation Optimized Retention and Retrieval Engine (CORR-Engine), which applies sophisticated intelligence to more accurately and quickly identify security threats across the IT infrastructure. This intelligence enables enterprises to filter anomalies, prioritize critical issues and reduce potential damage from cyberattacks.
“Organizations need powerful data analytics to pinpoint critical threats amongst the massive amounts of security information they are generating,” said Damanjit Singh Uberoi, chief solutions architect & evangelist, South Asia HP Enterprise Security Products. “HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c uses advanced algorithms to correlate this data, alerting clients to threats in real time while providing the scalability needed to handle the most demanding levels of network activity.”
With the CORR-Engine, HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c processes up to 500 percent more activity per second compared to previous versions of ESM, providing faster analysis and reduced security monitoring costs. This enables clients to quickly identify and reduce potential security risks while efficiently storing log data, using up to 20 times less storage space.(2)
A key component of the HP Security Intelligence and Risk Management (SIRM) platform, HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c collects and analyzes data across all systems and applications to identify real threats based on behavioral context. It has the unique ability to identify and understand who is on the network, what data they are seeing, how they are using the data, and the potential threat to the enterprise. Once threats are identified, HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c uses a built-in workflow engine to manage incidents and minimize damage from data breaches and malicious attacks.
Pricing and availability
HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c will be available in October under a new simplified pricing model, which allows clients to select the solution that best fits their needs with the flexibility to expand the deployment to support future growth.
HP’s premier Europe, Middle East and Africa client event, HP Discover, takes place Dec. 4-6 in Frankfurt, Germany

(1) According to research published by Gartner on May 21, 2012, titled “Critical Capabilities for Security Information and Event Management,” HP ArcSight ESM was ranked as the top SIEM product across the vendors evaluated. The Gartner report is based on an earlier version of the product. HP ArcSight ESM 6.0c performed faster than the earlier version of the product in all internal performance benchmarking tests.
(2) During internal performance testing, ESM on CORR engine could collect and correlate data 500 percent faster than the earlier versions of ESM on Oracle RDBMS using 20 times less storage.
