Sustainability major ZED Habitats of the BCIL group has launched a new cluster of villas, CASABLANCA that will change the game on urban sustainability. As modern cities buckle under the pressure of providing clean water, uninterrupted power and efficient disposal of waste, ZED CASABLANCA recognizes these future challenges with this offer of designer-crafted villas that rely only 20 per cent on external power grid, has no water supply board, sewerage board connections, and treats all solid waste with a waste-to-wealth plan, trash-to-cash solutions for waste.
Casablanca now offers citizens an opportunity to voluntarily opt for a responsible lifestyle and make an individual contribution in reducing the stress on the government and on the city's environment.
Set over a land expanse of over 25 acres at the ZED Earth campus, past Yelahanka on Doddaballapura Main Road, it is acclaimed to be the world’s largest sustainable residential enclave. Casablanca offers 33 signature homes as part of this larger residential enclave.
“Adelaide is now achieving about 20 per cent of its city’s demand with renewal energy. Toronto launched last year a program for rooftop urban farming as a mandatory requirement," says Mr. Hariharan, Chairman of ZED Habitats. "The world’s cities are moving towards good governance on such city infrastructure with greater initiatives from individuals, as well as infrastructure providers of homes” he added.
ZED Habitats has offered over 600 such homes which halve energy bills, which bring down freshwater demand by as much as 70 per cent, which ensure that 100 per cent of wet waste is made to wealth in some form or other.
“The company is investing over Rs 300 million on this project which will offer homes in the mid-segment of Rs. 1 crore plus,” says Sanjay Ramanujam, Executive Director of the company. “ZED Habitats which is part of the BCIL Group of sustainable businesses across different verticals of food, green white goods as lifestyle appliances, and bio enhancers for food cultivation, has nurtured an ecological agenda and not as much a social agenda,” adds Ramanujam.
The game changing systems that are high on reliability, economy, efficiency and offering excellent finishes is part of the signature elements at every ZED home include Air-conditioners that work on 5 amp switches and consume under 30 pc of power. Fans that work at 28 watts. Low induction burners that save 50 pc power. Geysers for hot water that save 85 pc energy while sun and wind is harnessed for powering homes.
These homes are available at the same prices as any other residential enclave but with the difference that there are over 48 different “true green” features beyond a regular home. It is this that defines "zero energy' or ZED living with no compromise on comfort, convenience, and luxury.
Casablanca is one of four exciting clusters as designer creations go at the ZED Earth campus. The campus offers the largest number of homes as villas in North Bangalore, claims Mr. Ramanujam.
With North Bangalore emerging as a large hub for growth into the future with over 5000 acres of the Apparel Park, SEZs, and other such infrastructure that is tilting the market balance toward the North of Bangalore, the ZED Earth campus is strategically located on this growth hub.
