The team that qualifies to represent the country will have a rich legacy to live up to, as the Indian teams, since their maiden entry in 1999, have done exceptionally well at the World Finals. The Credit Suisse team won the Championships held at La Manga Club, Spain in 2008 and in the subsequent editions in 2010 and 2011, Indian teams finished runners-up. In 2007, the team from Mercedes-Benz finished a creditable 5th amongst the 25 participating countries, and was also voted the most popular team of the tournament. Last year, the team from McLeod Russel notched up a top 10 finish, ending tied 8th alongside the English Team.
