Speaking on the occasion Smt. Minnie Mathew, said Andhra Pradesh has been giving lot of thrust to sports and games. Our honorable Chief Minister has been encouraging sports and games and is emphasizing on setting up proper sports infrastructure in towns and cities. She said sports leads to wellness and fitness, transforming one into a good individual. Archery needs intense focus of body and mind and develops strong qualities like determination, perseverance and sportsmanship, which are all essential in life. I am happy to be amidst future prospective Olympic medalists and want them to work hard to reach the goal of achieving an Olympic medal. I had a sense of thrill in trying my hand at archery here today, which I am attempting for the first time and also for hitting the target bang on.

Mr. Anil Kamineni said, the Junior National Archery Championship is a very important tournament, which helps in spotting talent. The talented archers can be groomed into international archers, who can bring laurels to the country. These archers have enough opportunities ahead to prove their mettle in the international arena, like the World Junior Archery championship this year, Asian games scheduled next year and the Olympics in 2016. He reminded the audience that Andhra Pradesh has been in the forefront in Archery by producing several reputed national and international archers.

Andhra Pradesh is among the leading states in India, in Archery. Hosting major Archery events such as these, would give a further boost by inspiring and attracting young talent.
