Canon India promotes Dr. Alok Bharadwaj to Executive Vice President
Canon India today announced the promotion of Dr. Alok Bharadwaj to the post of Executive Vice President of its India operations effective January 2013.

 Dr. Alok is based in New Delhi and operates out of Canon India’s headquarters located in the National Capital Region (NCR).  In his new role as the Executive Vice President of Canon in India, Dr. Alok would be responsible for Canon's business stream comprising of operations for all six business groups covering sales, marketing, services & corporate communications. These six business groups include ICP (Camera), CSP (IT peripherals), OIS (Document management & copiers), PPP (Commercial printing), ME (Services), CBS (central biz supports).

A seasoned corporate executive & an old hand at Canon in India, Dr. Alok brings with him a wide spectrum of experience and is a well-known face in the industry with high recognition and respect. Prior to this, Dr. Alok Bharadwaj was the Senior Vice-President for Canon’s India operations. Under his leadership, Canon registered a 20-fold record-breaking expansion over the last 12 years to emerge as a strong imaging industry leader in India. It is looking at revenues of Rs 2200 Crores in 2013.

 He is the recipient of various industry level recognitions like “Best CMO award India” conferred by CMO council USA, “Brand Builder of the Year”, “The most influential person in photography”, “Pride of the Industry Award for organization leadership”, “Corporate Executive of the year”, the “Most favorite country manager” and “Outstanding global manager” to name a few.  He has been listed in top 100 global influencers by ventureoutsource.com in 2012 and was conferred honorary doctorate in 2011 to signify his leadership and contribution to the industry. He has led Indian IT Hardware industry body ‘MAIT’ as President and is a Chairman of CII-OA & Imaging Division.



Dr. Alok has been listed in ‘THE ‘A’ LIST’ of who’s who in media, in ‘Top 150 Indian leaders in Tech world’ & in “Power brand Hall of Fame’s most dynamic Marketing professional”.



He is a regular figure of many industry forums, panels and juries and is also active across industry academia.



Prior to Canon, Dr. Alok worked in Motorola as head of Channels for India & SAARC, Usha International & Voltas. An industry veteran with over 27 years of experience, Dr.  Alok has led initiatives across diverse industries of consumer electronic, Telecom, IT, Photo & digital publishing. Some of the forums where Dr. Alok is an active speaker are The World Brand Congress, CII seminars, Asia Retail Congress, Indian Retail Forum, SKOCH Summit, INFOCOM, D&B event, Marketing Summits & CIO events.



He is also a prominent advocate of industry academia interface at institutes like Amity Business School, BIMTECH, Delhi School of Economics, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, Delhi school of economics, IITs etc. He has also been on several industry panels & Juries. He is active in representing IT industry in various government industry consultations.



Dr. Alok is an MBA from the FMS, Delhi and alumni of the Executive Program of IMD Lausanne.
