The National Association of Software & Services (NASSCOM) has announced the winners of its 9th Annual Global Leadership Awards, designed to recognize individuals who break boundaries and conquer new avenues in their field. These leaders were honored at an awards ceremony in the evening, chaired by Hon’ble Union Minister for Human Resources, Government of India, Mr. MM Pallam Raju, on the sidelines of NASSCOM’s yearly India Leadership Forum.
Classified into four categories, namely Business Transformation, Business Transformation through IT, Global CIO, and the Global Indian, these awards are an endeavor to showcase the achievements of those distinguished individuals who have continuously led themselves and their organizations towards achieving excellence in technology innovation, as well as business and thought leadership.
Felicitating these outstanding winners, Mr. Som Mittal, President NASSCOM, said, “Leaders across the world are expected to visualize innovation, and be the aspiration for next generation. The current global social and economic scenario has made visualizing the future a challenging task; the Global Leadership Awards bring to the forefront people or ‘imagineers’ who have not just visualized, but have also co-created and transformed the future. The Business Transformation award was given to Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President, IndiGo Airlines for successfully helming IndiGo to the leading position, in a year that was considered to be the most challenging for the aviation industry. The Business Transformation through IT award was given to Mr. Darryl West, CIO, Lloyds for his key role in execution of critical IT integration projects with a clear vision of bringing about positive changes within the organization through IT. Ms. Karenann Terrell, EVP & CIO, Wal-Mart was conferred CIO of the Year award for her stellar role in leading and supporting Wal-Mart’s global technology systems worldwide. The Global Indian Award was awarded to renowned actor Mr. Amitabh Bachchan for being a truly global ambassador for Indian cinema and his contribution to setting new standards for Indian cinema.
