The Technology Centres (TCs) are expected to train about 10,000 trainees per year in the 3rd year of its establishment through various long term and short term training programmes in the area of precision tooling and assist around 1000 MSMEs by way of design & development of sophisticated moulds, dies, tools and equipment as well as testing, calibration including consultancy in the related fields.
Addressing the media, Shri. K. H. Muniyappa, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for MSME (Independent Charge), Government of India, said, “The proposal to establish the Technology Center is based on the fact that Karnataka State has some of the best aerospace and electronics industries and also is the home to advanced R&D institutions like HAL, NAL, etc. There are several prestigious projects in progress and this would be right time to support their activities by promoting the MSME sector so as to handhold them to enhance their competitiveness.”
“This high-tech Technology Centre, with testing and calibration facility, will facilitate the development of sophisticated tools required for the aerospace and electronics industry. The proposed Centre will also provide skilled manpower, required by the industry, especially MSMEs in aerospace and ESDM Sector.” he added.
The Ministry of MSME, through the O/o Development Commissioner (MSME), has taken an initiative to implement “Technology Centre Systems Program (TCSP)” to establish 15 new Technology Centres (TC) and upgrade the existing facilities under the Mission-mode Programme.
Shri. Amarendra Sinha, IAS, Addl. Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME), Govt. of India, said, “These facilities will focus on improving access to technology, providing skill upgradation and offering advocacy support for specific industries with high growth potential. The long term vision of this Programme is to ensure competitiveness of the MSME ecosystem by strengthening further their linkage to the mainstream manufacturing sector in the country. It is also envisioned that these existing TCs will act as mother units and thought leaders to the sectors and space in which they operate.
The Government of Karnataka has already established an ultra-modern aerospace park at Devanahalli very near to Bangalore International Airport, where a large number of aerospace based SMEs would be accommodated. In this scenario, a world class Technology Centre, especially catering to the needs of aerospace sector in the same park would be a great boon for the development of the sector. This would also facilitate our State to leap frog into a very hi-tech area and will also be the strongest magnet for investment.
As evidenced by the figures of All India Census of MSMEs, strengthening the MSME ecosystem is essential for achieving balanced economic development and creating productive jobs called for by India’s demographic dividend. With this ultimate goal MSME Technology Centre, Bengaluru is being established to ensure easy access to high quality technology and holistic skill development in aerospace and ESDM sectors to strengthen MSME ecosystem and improve its competitiveness in the global market.
