With the growing relevance of IT in all walks of life, NGO capacity building initiatives directed at focused IT usage has become critical. Although millions of NGOs are operational in India, only a few thousands effectively use ICT in their development programs to enhance their impact. NASSCOM Foundation’s ConnectIT program conducts capacity building workshops for NGOs across India.
In partnership with Microsoft, NASSCOM Foundation conducted a workshop on
Leveraging Technology for Good for NGOs in Bangalore. This one day workshop was designed to help NGOs learn to use IT tools and social media to improve their organization's communication and collaboration activities. The workshop included useful topics on how to effectively leverage technology tools and shared practical tips for NGO leaders to use in their day-to-day work.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Rita Soni, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation said, “ConnectIT workshops are our solution in providing effective and targeted capacity building interventions to NGOs across the nation, so that they can enhance their impact towards their cause by adopting ICT as a tool. Our strategic partnership with Microsoft has enabled us to reach out to 2000+ NGOs.”
“Microsoft believes that technology can be a game-changer in delivering a real and meaningful social impact on the community that we work in. And our NGO partners are a central part of that effort. ConnectIT is part of our commitment to empower our partners through software donations, training on IT skills, helping them fully leverage the benefits of modern technology.” Ashwini Samraj, Business Manager, Microsoft India GTSC, India.
Murugan Ettiyan, Media Officer, Hope Foundation stated, "It was a wonderful experience to be a part of this workshop. I have learnt various new concepts and practical applications of cloud computing, social media and online collaboration tools. Thank You NASSCOM Foundation and Microsoft for putting together this event for NGOs like us who are looking to use technology to maximize our impact and connect better with our beneficiaries and stakeholders."
