Fifth edition of Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival Officially announced
The fifth edition of the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival Powered by Mantri is all set to kick off and bring together over 450 Amateur Golfers from across the Country, as they compete at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) from 12th to 15th September 2013. This edition of the largest amateur golf festival in South India will see top-notch golfing action as the amateurs put their best swing forward for a spot in the Indian team to represent the country at the World Golfers' Championships to be held at Durban, South Africa from October 26th to November 2nd, 2013.

Presented by the Department of Tourism, Karnataka, the Golf Festival has been a successful showcase of Karnataka as a premier golfing destination for the last four years. Commenting on the association with the festival, Mr. Arvind Jadhav, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism Department of Karnataka said, "For the past four editions, the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival has been successful in promoting Karnataka as one of the best golfing destinations in the country. We hope this year will be no exception and that our state will continue to be recognized and rewarded as the one-stop golfing destination in India. We are therefore keen to continue our association with this Festival along with Toyota Kirloskar Motor, so that the experience of playing at KGA, nominated as one of the Top Ten Golf Courses in the Asia Pacific Region, continues. There is also an opportunity for Golfers participating from outside the State, to play in other scenic Golf Courses spread across the State in Mysore, Coorg, Chikmagalur, etc., and have a real Golfing Holiday along with Friends and Family."

Echoing the thoughts of Mr. Jadhav, Managing Director of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, Dr. C. D. Dyavaiah, IFS added, "Having reaped the rewards of being host to the largest golf festival in the South of India, we strongly believe that this edition will only get bigger and better. Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival is the official India Qualifier for the World Golfers Championship in which 5 Winners from 5 different handicap categories (0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 & 21-24), will represent India at the World Golfers Championship. The 19th World Golfers Championship will take place in Durban, Republic of South Africa, from 26th October to 2nd November, 2013, with over 200 Amateur Golfers from 40 Countries participating over 4 rounds of competitive golf in 4 different Golf Courses in the Kwa Zulu - Natal Province. The World Golfers Championship World final is played over 72 holes, stroke play, with handicap adjustments after each round, giving all a fair and equal opportunity.

With prizes that include entry into the World Golfers Championships for the top 5 winning individuals in various handicap categories and the victorious team winning a royal weeklong trip on the luxurious Golden Chariot train, sponsored by the Department of Tourism, this festival is truly a celebration. Reminiscing his time at the World Golfers Championships last year, the winner of Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival, 2012, Mr. Shamsher Puri said "It was great to be part of an international golf fraternity. Competition was intense, but we had a great time interacting with golfers from across the globe, as they shared experiences while they play on different golf courses and different conditions. It was a great honor to be part of the World Championships and I shall always be grateful to the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival for providing me with the opportunity."

Arjuna Awardee and ace professional golfer Harmeet Kahlon from Chandigarh will be making a special appearance on behalf of Toyota Kirloskar Motor on 14th Sept, 2013, where he will interact, compete and guide over 120 Golfers on any one hole of KGA.

In addition to top amateur golfers, the Festival will also see celebrities like Syed Kirmani, Charu Sharma, G R Vishwanath and Erapalli Prasanna display their golfing skills at the KGA which will conclude with a gala cocktail and dinner awards ceremony at the Royal Orchid Hotels, Bengaluru, on 15th September, 2013 where the winning teams and participants will be felicitated.
