Corporate culture races towards wellness with ‘Stepathlon’

Corporate culture races towards wellness with ‘Stepathlon’
Striding into its second year, Stepathlon, a global health revolution among corporates, has garnered a phenomenal increase in participation from corporate India. The mass-participation wellness initiative created waves in the corporate sector last year.

This year the number has increased by 45%, including 70 new companies in just one year with 30,897 participants from 210 companies spread across 434 cities in India, and 34 other countries who signed up for the 100-day virtual race around the world. This edition has several companies such as HDFC Bank, Technip, YES Bank, ABFSG, Idea Cellular, HDFC Ltd, Deutsche Bank, and companies from UB, Mahindra Group, TATA Group, and Godrej Groups competing for the coveted title of ‘Most Active Company’.

“It is time to move our focus from illness to wellness”, said Ravi Krishnan, CEO, Stepathlon, “From the momentum Stepathlon has generated so far, it is evident that corporate India has woken up to the truth- an investment in wellness is a path to a happier, more productive and profitable organisation. We aim to spread this awareness and get more people on their feet and walking towards a healthier and happier lifestyle”

Successfully taking forward its doctrine that ‘all movement is good movement’, Stepathlon has enabled its Stepathletes or ‘everyday athletes’ to track their step-count in a more accurate manner by introducing its new 3D motion technology BUDD-E. Stepathlon has also widened its berth of wellness by extending an opportunity for participation to family and friends of registered Stepathletes, to join the global movement towards a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Both the online and mobile platforms of Stepathlon were upgraded to an interface that is more engaging, interactive and intuitive for the growing community of Stepathletes. This year the participants were able to access a more dynamic and information rich virtual map of the world that plots their progress and tracks that of their competitors as well as receive weekly tips and recipes on healthy eating.
“While there is a multitude of statistics we can share about the benefits which both Stepathletes and their employers have derived from just last year’s event, the true value of Stepathlon can be best understood by listening to stories about the positive change we have inspired in the lives of participating companies, individuals and their families” concluded Ravi.
