The LV Prasad Eye Institute has opened a primary care vision center - the Vivekananda Vision Center at the Ramakrishna Math Medical Center. Dr Anupama Reddy, Medical Director of the Center had invited LVPEI to take over the exciting ophthalmic center at their premises. The Vivekananda Vision Center at the Ramakrishna Math Health Center was formally opened on December 27, 2013 at 11 am. Dr G N Rao, Chairman LVPEI, Swami Jnanadananda - President, Ramakrishna Math, Swami Shitikanthananda -Head of the Heath Center and Dr Anupama Reddy, Medical Director were present at the event.
Speaking at the occasion Dr Anupama Reddy said “it was ideally suited for LVPEI to support us in our initiative to reach out to a large number of people especially in the low and middle income groups as well as many retired people who visit the center regularly”. The Ramakrishna Math is a well known center of learning and meditation and many young and old visit here every day. Travelers from all over the country stop by at the Ramakrishna Math as it offers a peaceful place of rest.
Dr G N Rao and other senior personnel from LV Prasad Eye Institute were at the event, speaking on the occasion Dr Rao said “as part of LVPEI’s mission to build a comprehensive eye care solution that is both available, accessible and affordable to all, it was only natural to team up with the Ramakrishna Math Health Center in the city”. The LVPEI network is now spread over the state of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa with an hundred and eighteen footprints consisting of primary care centres, secondary care centres and tertiary care centres. The Centre of Excellence at Hyderabad apart from providing solutions to complicated eye diseases is also a major education and research centre, offers vision enhancement and rehabilitation to those visually impaired and blind, outreach and rural eye care as also brought up development and innovation.
