Apollo Emergency Head, Dr Mahesh Joshi conferred the prestigious ‘Kalakriti award for excellence-2014’. The previous recepients of Kalakriti award for Excellence are Shri Shankar Melkote, an acclaimed art and theatre personality in the year 2012 and ace cricketer Mr VVS laxman in lieu of his contribution to the sports in the year 2013. The Kalakriti foundation, Hyderabad, instituted the Award of Excellence with an aim to appreciate individuals from twin-cities of diverse background who had exemplary contribution to their field.
Dr. Mahesh Joshi is also the Executive Co-chairman for Society for Emergency Medicine in India and a founder trustee for Save Life Foundation –a not for profit organization working in the field of Road safety. Dr.Mahesh Joshi is a pioneer in this field of medicine and been responsible for initiating the first physician training programs for EM in India. He was conferred with the prestigious Honorary fellowship of Royal College of Emergency Medicine –UK in 2010 for recognition of his contribution to EM. Along with SEMI (Society for emergency Medicine-India), he has worked endlessly for the recognition of this specialty and both the MCI (Medical Council of India) and NBE (National Board of Examinations) have recognized this as a post graduate specialty.
He has been involved in a number of public awareness initiatives. His LIFE SAVER training program is an extremely popular First responder initiative in the city. Through the Save life foundation he has been pursuing the cause of Road safety & establishing the Good Samaritan Law in India. Over the years through his work he has touched hundreds of lives and has been an agent of change in the field of Medicine. A versatile personality he is also a gifted singer and has over 300 performances to his credit.
