The one day technical fest gave students an opportunity to witness a wide range of technical events ranging from conventional paper presentations and quizzes to fun filled activities such as robotics, gaming and designing to name a few. The paper presentation event was organized in order to give due recognition to staff and students who have put down their ideas in writing and ready to present it to the world.
Events like Hydro Rocketry, Robo Wars, Robo Race, Robo Soccer, Chematron saw maximum number of participations and created excitement among students.
Earlier during the day, “VerTechX5.0” was inaugurated by Dr. S. Kishore Kumar, Additional Director, GTRE, Defense Research and Development Organisaiton, Bangalore. The inaugural function was presided over by the Principal of MVJCE, Dr. K.S. Shanmukharadhya and Dr. M Krishnamoorthy, HOD of ECE department
While addressing the students, Dr. S. Kishore Kumar, Additional Director, GTRE, Defense Research and Development Organization, Bangalore shared his thoughts “What attracted me to be a part of this event was the thought and the theme behind it, which is quite interesting. It’s a great way of making one’s mind work in a creative way because towards the end winning or loosing is not the case, its all about being sportive and facing competition head on! And always follow your heart and you will have no regrets. You will be successful and happy for the rest of your life. All you need is integrity, truth and the belief that ‘You can do it!”
Participating in VerTechX 5.0 is more like a dream and challenge for every technologically aligned student. There were academic pursuits to be followed such as quizzes like ‘COMPO-MANIA’ and “BIO-GYAAN.” There was ‘CHEMATRON” where the participants had to look for clues and solve riddles placed around the campus and identify the compounds required for the reaction and perform the experiment. Each clue led to the next clue. A team which solves all clues and perform experiments first will be winning the event.
Kartik, a student of MVJ College of Engineering who participated in the fest shared his view, “It was a great event for technically inclined students. The out of the box event and others were great to bring out the creativity in engineering concepts and theories. Being a national level event, we got to test our mettle against bright brains from other reputed colleges.”
Amit, a student of MVJ College of Engineering who is also a part of the organising team said “The event has been getting bigger and bigger every year. We have tried to bring in more creativity into the Tech Fest this year by adding more innovative events.”
Amongst all the technical events conducted, RoboWarz and Robo Race caught the eye of the entire crowd. ‘RoboWarz’ was a live battle between robots of various shapes, designs and sizes in a real time battle arena and Robo Race was where Robos of all shapes and sizes were competing to clear the obstacles, cross a ramp and also sometimes clashed with each other in the middle. These robots were remote controlled by their student inventors.
Speaking about the VerTechX, Dr. K.S. Shanmukharadhya, Principal, MVJCE shared, “This is the fifth year we are conducting this national level technical festival. VerTechX 5.0 is designed in such a way that it has many events to test the students and give them a platform to showcase their talent, skills and creativity. At MVJCE, we believe in stimulating bright young minds to think out of the box and innovate by providing a wholesome learning experience and this being at a National Level, we have seen participation of colleges from all over the country”
