An insightful survey is conducted across the metro cities by TastyKhana.in, a leading online food portal, which gauges the food habits of Indians. Having surveyed across different age groups and cities, the new study has brought a fresh perspective on the psyche of Indian food enthusiasts, especially when it comes to ensuring value for money & convenience for the money paid. The survey features some interesting facts like enticing offers, tax saving, vast variety of cuisines etc and how these factors drive online food orders. Out of all, 3 key takeaways from the survey are:
*      Savings made of 17.5% while ordering food online as they save on telephone cost, avail great deals, save on service charges & restaurant tips
*      Cash On Delivery & Online payments stands at 1:3 ratio preference
*      Variety of options available for indulging in late lunches & evening snacks

Going by the current trend, the consumers want to explore all types of cuisines and restaurants with just a click.  Observing an overwhelming response to our food delivery services, we felt the need to come up with a survey encapsulating the food ordering patterns and behavior of Indian foodies.”

Across the cities we have experienced that online food ordering is picking up owing to the fact that it helps consumers in saving a chunk of their money also.”
As per the survey findings, a consumer saves from 20% to 50% per order while ordering food online. The percentage of people ordering food online and through their mobile devices is 20% and the percentage has been scaling up each day.
The survey delves deeper highlighting certain interesting facts about the foodies. The findings tell us that a decent volume of customers (8%) is conscious towards lifestyle benefits. A major chunk of professionals opt for Subway and other healthy options.
It’s not only main course which foodies love to order. It has been observed that a large number of food enthusiasts also love to order for evening snacks, starters (65% non-veg starters and 35% veg starters)& bakery products like cakes.
Additionally, TastyKhana has identified certain food dishes preferences across the cities with this survey. For ‘Tandoori Chicken’ Delhi gets the highest orders, ‘Chicken Biryani’ Bangalore gets the highest orders and Pune is more inclined towards Chinese whereas Mumbai calls more for ‘Fast food and Pizza’.
