Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has submitted his resigned just a day after his party JD(U)'s poor show in the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar.JD (U) had got just 2 seats out 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. Nitish submitted his resignation to Bihar governor D Y Patil.The resignation was on the cards since the his party's near washout in Bihar became apparent as the election results indicated a dismal performance by JD(U). This resignation is likely to result in mid-term assembly polls in Bihar.
