Dell India today announced that it has attained the No.1 position in the Indian PC Market with a 23.1% share across segments in Q1CY2014, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). With 33.1% share, Dell is also the No.1 Notebook Brand in India. HP was reduced to a market share of 20.4% after having dominated the Indian PC market in 2013 across all product categories.Lenovo Group Ltd was on third spot with a 14.9% market share.
Dell showed consistent growth over last few quarters in the Consumer & Small business segment to successfully capture the No.1 spot in Q1CY14 with 21.4% share. Dell also leads the Small Business segment with an overall share of 26.2% (No.1 in notebook with 61.0% and desktop with 15.4%).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. P. Krishnakumar, Executive Director and General Manager, Consumer & Small Business, Dell India said,.India’s PC market with 2.03 million unit shipments registered a 25.2 % decline in the first quarter of 2014.This leadership position, reiterates Dell’s belief in the PC business, and follows an impressive growth trajectory built over the last few quarters in commercial and consumer segments,said Dell in press statement.
